After Tom Brunner graduated from Ohio State in 1972, he went to work for a national lawn care company where he remained employed for several years. Late in the fall of 1976 he returned to Northeast Ohio and founded Personal Lawn Care, starting with himself, his brother, and a friend. Focusing on providing their customers with quality workmanship on each and every job, the company specialized in mowing and fertilization services.

In 1980 the family-owned and operated company added landscape design and installation to the growing list of services they offer, and in 2000 the landscaping division of the company was incorporated as Avon Landscaping, Inc. From their humble beginnings of one truck and one crew, the two companies have grown to include thirty-five trucks and twenty-five crews performing two and a half a million dollars in lawn and landscaping work each year. We met with Tom recently, and listened as he provided this overview of Avon Landscaping's offerings;

Avon Landscaping, Inc. specializes in commercial and residential landscaping design and installation. We install new lawns and landscapes, in addition to renovating existing properties. Our services include custom patios and walkways constructed of brick pavers, irrigation systems, landscape lighting, seeding, planting, mulching, pruning, installation of drain tile, and snow removal. All of our crews are licensed and insured, and we are a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Ohio Landscapers Association (OLA), the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA), the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), and the Building Industry Association (BIA).

We are in the business of building beautiful landscapes for our customers. My son Matthew is our General Manager, and Judi Thacker, our Landscape Designer, has been producing beautiful designs for us for the past twenty-five years. We enjoy coming to a new site and installing patios, walkways, and lighting installations using different materials and designs. Each project is custom designed and is of the highest quality, with the end result providing an immense amount of satisfaction in a job well-done.
